Delhi NCR

PHP and Laravel development in Delhi without the lock-in.

A lot of NCR agencies pitch custom PHP as inherently superior to WordPress. Sometimes it genuinely is. Often it means an admin panel only they understand.

Overview

When a framework is the right answer

PHP frameworks such as Laravel are the right choice when you are building an application rather than a website: roles, workflow, business rules and integrations. They are the wrong choice for a brochure site or a blog, where a CMS does more for less. The risk to manage is a bespoke admin panel nobody but the original agency can maintain.

01

You are building an application

Logins, roles, permissions, workflow and business rules. A framework gives you structure for exactly this, where a CMS gives you plugins fighting each other.

02

Integrations are central

ERP, accounting, payment, SMS, WhatsApp, partner APIs. Frameworks make these first-class work rather than a plugin search, and integration is usually where the real requirement lives.

03

Laravel specifically

Large Indian developer pool, mature ecosystem, good documentation and conventions most developers already know. That matters more than elegance, because it decides whether you can hire and get a second opinion.

04

And when it is the wrong answer

A five-page site, a blog, a standard store. Building those on a framework means paying several times more and taking on maintenance you did not need. We will say so rather than take the larger project.

05

The custom admin panel trap

A bespoke admin built for you, undocumented, with no update path and nobody else able to assess it. Extremely common in this market. Ask what happens if that agency becomes unavailable, and get documentation named as a deliverable.

06

Maintenance is not optional

Framework and dependency updates, security patches, deployment and monitoring. Unmaintained bespoke code ages faster and more dangerously than a platform, because nobody is publishing patches for your specific application.

What to avoid

Questions that expose the trap

AskGood answerBad answer
What framework and version?Named, current, with an upgrade pathOur own framework
Where is the code hosted?A repository in your accountOn our server
What documentation do we get?Setup, deploy, architecture, named as a deliverableWe will explain it if you need
Who else could maintain this?Any competent Laravel developerOnly we know it
How are updates handled?A defined process with stagingRarely
What happens if we leave? You have everything alreadyDiscussed vaguely

The second column is a normal professional answer. The third is the pattern that leaves businesses stuck paying whoever built it, which is the single most common complaint we hear about custom PHP work in this market.

What to ask before you hire

Ask themA good answer sounds likeWalk away if
Who owns the code and files? You do, unconditionally, in the contractOwnership depends on staying with them
Can I open three sites you built?Live URLs you can check yourselfScreenshots and a portfolio PDF
Who maintains it after launch?A named arrangement agreed up frontNobody has thought about it
What is explicitly not included?A written list with change pricingEverything is included, which means nothing is defined

The maintenance question matters most on custom stacks, because unmaintained bespoke code ages faster and more dangerously than a platform.

Comparison

Framework, CMS or platform

01

Framework

Applications, portals, dashboards, anything with roles and rules. Highest cost, highest control, and you own the maintenance.

03

Platform

Standard stores and simple sites, where the platform has already solved what you need. Cheapest to run when the fit is right.

FAQ

Common questions

Is custom PHP better than WordPress?

For applications, yes. For content sites, no, and it is an expensive way to rebuild what WordPress already does. The claim that custom PHP is inherently superior is usually a sales position rather than a technical one, and it is worth asking what specifically your project needs that WordPress cannot do.

Why Laravel rather than another framework?

Large Indian developer pool, mature ecosystem, strong documentation and conventions most developers already know. That matters more than technical elegance, because it decides whether you can hire, get second opinions and survive your developer leaving.

What is the custom admin panel problem?

A bespoke admin interface built for you, undocumented, with no update path and nobody outside the original agency able to assess or maintain it. It is very common here, and it leaves you paying whoever built it indefinitely.

Will we own the code?

You should, unconditionally on final payment, including the repository and deployment documentation. Custom code you do not own is the worst outcome: you paid for bespoke work and still cannot leave.

How do we maintain a Laravel application?

Framework and dependency updates, security patches, a deployment process and monitoring. Agree who does this before launch. Unmaintained bespoke code is more dangerous than an unmaintained platform, because nobody is publishing patches for your specific application.

Can you take over an existing PHP application?

Often, and it depends on how it was built. We audit first: framework and version, code quality, documentation and dependency state, then tell you honestly whether taking it over or rebuilding is better value. Sometimes it is genuinely rebuild.

How long does a Laravel project take?

Three to nine months for a real application depending on rules and integrations. If someone quotes an application in four weeks, they are describing something much simpler with a different label.
